Studies have shown that by 2050, if there are no major innovation inventions, the total weight of plastic waste in the ocean will exceed the total weight of fish. In the face of this urgent situation, members of Roots & Shoots cannot sit back and let this happen to our oceans.
Roots & Shoots students across the country, focusing on single-use plastics in delivery, e-commerce and food and beverage packaging, have organised hundreds of investigative and advocative activities. Some questions they address include: Is choosing glass over plastic really a good environmental choice? How to reduce disposable plastic products? How to recycle plastic waste? How to extend the life of plastic products? Roots & Shoots will offer online courses, hold public exhibitions, participate in the circular economy design competitions and strive to find the ultimate solution to solve plastic waste pollution!
